Daily Author Interview: Emma Smith

1. I was inspired to write when I had babies and I became aware that there were plentiful resources to teach them to read from birth but no maths resources until workbooks for pre schoolers.
2. Reading is my passion! Books are my gift to myself: the gift of never being bored; the gift of powering up my imagination; and the gift of knowledge. I am very drawn to non fiction (untangled, between and good enough are on the go at the moment to inspire and guide me be a better parent and a better person!). However, I also always have a fiction book available to get lost in. Often chosen by my book club friends and I’m yet to find a book that doesn’t generate conversation, ideas and emotions. When I choose my own book then Jodi Picoult is my go to author-she makes me think. I love to think!
3. My newest and only book is ‘100 Ways in 100 Days to Teach Your Baby Maths’ I wrote it because it needed to be written rather than because I’m a natural author. So, for now, my work is done!!
4. Being an indie author can be quite self-indulgent. To do it properly requires more time and money than can sometimes be justified. But the satisfaction of providing information or enjoyment to people all over the world makes it absolutely worth any sacrifices and compromises.
5. As a writer, I have been influenced by the voices of hundreds of other kind people who have used their knowledge to help me grow. And, of course, my inspiration and my confirmation, my children (who have taught me more than I could ever teach them!).

Daily Author Interview: Peter A Johnson

1. What inspired you to write? I’ve written all of my life. I like being creative so that could be song lyrics, poems, scripts and more. Since I got into teaching I found I was writing short stories for my lessons. It was only when a pupil commented on my work saying it was like a real author had written it that I decided to do something about it.

2) Are you a reader? What are some of your favorites? I don’t read books too much but when I do it is usually history related. So it could be historical fiction or non-fiction books. Thr last favourite book I read was Sapiens. My all time favourite book is To Kill A Mocking Bird.
3) What is your newest work, and what is going to happen in the future? My latest book which is produced is ‘ The Girl who could be anything’. I’ve written to books previously. BOG…the ogre in the cellar and The Manchester Bee. I have two other books written and are starting to be produced shortly. I write children’s picture books. I actually think my next book is my best.
4) Do you have advice or tips for Indie Authors? Research, research, research. I read and follow so many sites, articles, etc. I’ve learnt so much and feel I could guide someone following a similar path to me now. I still don’t know everything and don’t pretend I do. I’m learning all of the time! 5) What influenced you as a writer? Julia Donaldson definitely influenced my writing and the illustration style. I also think back to stories I enjoyed as a child and have those in mind when I’m writing. Being a teacher too, I can’t help but include an underlying theme that relates to kindness, celebration and compassion. **** post answers and book cover on this post!!!

1. What inspired you to write? I started writing as a way to mentally unplug from the stresses of life. I enjoy becoming immersed in my characters and their lives!
2) Are you a reader? What are some of your favorites? Absolutely! I don’t know if it is even possible to be an author without being an avid reader first and foremost. I mostly enjoy steamy romance, which is also what I write! JA Huss, Sylvia Day, Corinne Michaels, JR Ward are some of my favorites ♥
3) What is your newest work, and what is going to happen in the future? I have recently published an ongoing historical romance on Amazon’s new serial platform, kindle vella. I have also written a dragon fantasy romance and a dark teen romance that are still in the editing phases!
4) Do you have advice or tips for Indie Authors? Don’t expect anything magical to happen overnight. Being an author, especially an indie author is playing the long, slow game!

1. I was first inspired to write as an assignment in a higher school English class and was hooked on words, journaling and later storytelling.
2) When I am not writing, I am an avid reader of Suspense, Contemporary Romance and various other genres.
3) My latest release is attached, and I have plans to release a new novella soon.

5) What influenced you as a writer? Life experiences, I am an emotion driven writer who wants to not only entertain, but also help readers see that they can overcome challenges or relate and work through them easier knowing someone else has been in their shoes and made it. 😊

Daily Author Interview: Joanna Jackson

1) What inspired you to write?

I’ve always been an avid reader since I was little. I used to let my imaginations run wild and write short stories, but I never thought much about it. Then, when the pandemic struck, I had no job and nothing to look forward to. So, I started writing. What started out as a small idea turned into a short story, which became a full-length novel. I never looked back ever since.

2) Are you a reader? What are some of your favorites?

Yes, I am a reader. I am always surrounded by my growing pile of unread books which I keep feeding every chance I get. Sweet romances are usually my go-to books, but I also love mystery, crime, thrillers, and fantasy books.

3) What is your newest work, and what is going to happen in the future?

I just recently published my debut book on Amazon and other well-known platforms, called ‘The Undercover Billionaire’. It’s a sweet, wholesome romantic comedy with a twist. I’m currently working on my first adventure-fantasy-pirate novel as well. As for my future, I look forward to keeping on writing and creating as much as I can.

4) Do you have advice or tips for Indie Authors?

My advice is for them to go for it. Stop thinking that it isn’t the right time or you’re not good enough. You’ll never know if you don’t try. You won’t lose a thing. Self-publishing or indie publishing is a great place to start.

5) What influenced you as a writer?

A chance to escape reality and create a world of my dreams. The idea that I could develop a whole relationship, kingdom, fantasy, was all very inspiring and pushed me to keep on creating.

5. What influenced me for the Ronnie’s Tales series I would have to say my dad influenced me. These books are based on stories he used to tell us about all the fun exciting adventures he used to do.

Daily Author Interview: Ron. L. Lahr

1) What inspired you to write?

I loved reading from a young age and that eventually turned into trying out writing. It was high school when I started showing things to people and the positive response encouraged me to keep going.

2) Are you a reader? What are some of your favorites?

Yes, I am still a big reader! While I read lots of different things I love fantasy, science fiction, mystery, and humor the most. Some of my favorites are Robin Hobb, L. E Modesitt, Jr., Steven Brust, Kurt Vonnegut, Harry Harrison, and many, many more.

3) What is your newest work, and what is going to happen in the future?

I am just finishing up the third novel in my Kathaldi Chronicles fantasy trilogy. The main character, and narrator, is Dirk, a sarcastic thief who helps his friends try to save the world. It should be released on Amazon early next month. Then I have a humorous faux-self-help book, You’re as Stupid as You are Fat; How to Talk to Women, coming out very soon afterwards. A couple of months after that a humorous science fiction novel, You Get What You Steal, will be out followed closely by an anthology that takes place in the fantasy world of the Kathaldi Chronicles but has stories by a bunch of different authors. So, the rest of the year will be very busy for me.

4) Do you have advice or tips for Indie Authors? Nothing new or different. Read a lot. Write a lot. Don’t give up. Work on not giving in to distractions when you are writing. If your brain comes up with an idea for a new project don’t fall for it. Just write it up and then get back to work on your current project because you need to finish things.

5) What influenced you as a writer?

I believe that all of the books I read influenced me. My teachers, my friends, my family, everything I’ve experienced as a person. As a child I was younger than my fellow classmates, and smaller, and skinnier, and I wore glasses. Humor became my shield, and my weapon. Now, almost everything I write has a lot of humor in it, which I believe is directly attributable to my childhood.
